This brings the total infection tally officially to 413,558 since the outbreak began in February 2020, said the Ministry of Health and Population in its daily coronavirus update statement.

Egypt’s health ministry also reported in its daily coronavirus statement that 35 new coronavirus-related deaths were recorded officially in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 22,431.

The statement added that 1,783 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 347,557.

The ministry also revealed that Egypt has fully vaccinated 25.2 million people since the start of the country’s vaccination campaign in early 2021.

More than 37 million first doses have been administered so far, along with more than 25.2 million second doses and 580,112 booster shots, according to the ministry, bringing the total number of shots administered to citizens over the past year to 62,819,935.

Amid the continual increase in daily coronavirus infections that has been seen over the past weeks, Egypt has recently implemented new coronavirus-related restrictions at airports, seaports, and land crossings to contain the spread of the Omicron variant along with its previously announced plan.
