Egypt surpasses 2,000 new coronavirus cases for first time since virus outbreak
Egypt reported 2,007 new coronavirus cases on Friday, topping 2,000 cases for the first time since the outbreak of virus in February 2020 to bring the tally of infections officially reported nationwide since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 419,460, stated the Ministry of Health and Population.

The health ministry also reported 26 new deaths related to Covid-19 complications nationwide in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 22,522.
The ministry added in its daily report that 1,991 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 353,409.
In recent weeks, Egypt has implemented new coronavirus-related restrictions at airports, seaports, and land crossings to contain the spread of the Omicron variant.
Egypt has so far administered a total of 37,146,343 first vaccine doses and 25,675,923 second vaccine doses.
A total of 612,311 booster shots have been injected in recent weeks, as per the health ministry, bringing the total number of coronavirus vaccines administered to the population since the start of the mass vaccination campaign in January 2021 to 63,434,577 jabs.
