Egypt reports 2,189 new coronavirus infections, 62 deaths on Thursday

Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population reported on Thursday 2,189 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total cases since the outbreak began in February 2020 to 448,497.

The ministry also recorded 62 COVID-19 linked fatalities, bringing the total tally of deaths to 23,172.

The statement added that the total number of recoveries is 382,037  after 2,009 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.

Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, the acting health minister, told the weekly cabinet meeting on Thursday that Egypt has so far administered a total of 1.8 million coronavirus vaccine doses to children aged 15-18, and 284,200 to children aged 12-15
