World Mental Health Day is celebrated annually on 10 October to raise awareness about mental health around the world, using a green ribbon as an international symbol.
The ministry also lit up 21 hospitals and mental health centres in 15 governorates green and launched a number of boats in the Nile River in Assiut governorate as part of the celebration.
The ministry launched a number of activities in all hospitals affiliated to the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment (GSMHAT), Spokesman for the Ministry of Health Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said on Wednesday.
In March, the health ministry launched the first e-platform for mental health and addiction treatment in cooperation between GSMHAT and the World Health Organisation.
The platform provides government services free of charge for addiction treatment for Egyptians and non-Egyptian residents.
