These remarks came during a cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday in Cairo, where he reviewed a report concerning the pandemic situation in Egypt.
Abdel-Ghaffar stated that 40,179,892 citizens were fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in Egypt.
During the meeting, the health minister explained the recent developments of the Covid-19 pandemic at the international and national levels, noting that more than 100 Covid-19 cases were recorded during the third week of 2023, compared to 79 cases in the second week of 2023.
The minister added that Egypt expects to receive one million doses of the Pfizer Covid vaccine within the next two weeks out of three million doses.
He added that data on Covid cases had been prepared by the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) from 542 hospitals.
He also revealed that 15 monkeypox cases had been registered, including four positive cases, between September 7 and 11, 2022.
Egypt officially detected its first monkeypox case in early September.
