The conference is set to be held from 5 to 8 September in the New Administrative Capital under the auspices of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
According to Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, the meeting addressed the key topics that are likely to be discussed during the upcoming conference, as well as the WHO's role in supporting the event. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of health, population, and development issues, and their significant impact on people's well-being.
The minister pointed out that the world is facing significant challenges that demand increased international cooperation and integration to address all related issues.
According to the ministry spokesperson, the two sides also discussed the preparations for the participation of WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in the four-day conference. The aim is to ensure the success of the event and to continue efforts towards addressing the significant challenges related to health and population that affect both developed and developing countries.
Cairo hosted the groundbreaking ICPD in 1994.
During the 1994 conference, 179 governments adopted a Programme of Action aimed at empowering women and girls for their own benefit, as well as for the benefit of their families, communities, and nations.
