Human Albumin vial drug, which is produced from human plasma and commercially named "Human Albumin 200 g/l BAXTER," is used to restore and maintain healthy blood circulation volumes, according to its information leaflet. It is sold for EGP 962 per package in the local market, according to SEIF Pharmacies' website.

The EDA explained that the counterfeit drugs can be identified because they contain a two-sided information leaflet printed in both Arabic and English. Genuine examples contain a one-sided leaflet printed in English.

Genuine examples also have a 4-line section for registration data in which “EGY/Bb/june” is written in English.

The counterfeit package has no English code written in the 4-line date.

Finally, the genuine drug comes in a package with a darker yellow colour than the counterfeit.

After having the highest prevalence rate of Hepatitis C in the world, Egypt has made tremendous strides in combating liver disease through a comprehensive plan which diagnosed and treated millions of patients in the last several years.

The World Health Organization (WHO) will soon announce that Egypt has become the first country to eliminate Hepatitis C.
