The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has forecasted strong winds nationwide, set to stir up dust and sand and cause decreased visibility this week, especially on Sunday and Monday.

On Tuesday, the EMA said active winds are also expected on Friday and Saturday across Cairo and Giza in addition to the governorates of northern Upper Egypt.

It added that heavy morning fog is expected from Tuesday to Friday on highways and roads across Egypt.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health, in response to current weather fluctuations, released six cautionary health tips for asthma and chest allergy patients:

  • Wear a mask when leaving the house during a dust storm.
  • Sit in well-ventilated areas and avoid crowded places to prevent feelings of suffocation.
  • Drink an adequate amount of water to improve blood flow to the lungs.
  • Carry bronchial allergy medications in your bag when going out and take them at the times specified by your doctor.
  • Use any inhalers prescribed by your doctor as prescribed.
  • Ensure the proper closure of home windows to prevent the entry of dust and dirt into the rooms.
