Egypt has received 44,065 injured Palestinians from Gaza since the start of the war, nearly a quarter of whom are children, to receive healthcare treatment, according to Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.

The injured children, totalling 10,730, have been vaccinated against polio, measles, rubella, and mumps, Abdel-Ghaffar said.

The health ministry has provided specialized medical teams in various disciplines to treat injured people coming from Gaza.

The medical teams provide care to the injured in the following specialities: ophthalmology and eye surgery, intensive care, otolaryngology, anaesthesia, orthopaedic and plastic surgery, blood vessels and nerves surgery, and general surgery. They are also providing psychological support to the injured.

Egypt daily receives 40-50 injured people, disbursed to around 85 hospitals across the nation, the minister added, noting that 1,043 buses were used to transport the injured from Gaza.

The teams have conducted around 1,562 surgeries for the injured from Gaza and prepared 1,366 others to receive treatment abroad.

Furthermore, 227 cancer patients were transferred to the Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 in Cairo and the Pediatric Oncology Centre of Borg El-Arab University Hospital in Alexandria.

The country has been receiving injured individuals and cancer patients from Gaza since November 2023, as Israeli unrelenting strikes and restrictions on fuel entry have put most of Gaza hospitals out of service. A group of cancer patients were moved to Turkey for treatment.

Egypt has also facilitated the evacuation of thousands of foreign passport holders stranded in the strip due to the war.

Furthermore, Egypt has delivered 130,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza, coming from its local institutions and NGOs as well as other countries and international relief agencies.

In mid-February, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt alone has provided around 100,000 tons of the total aid sent to Gaza.
