Egypt sends humanitarian, medical aid to South Sudan

Egypt sent medical and humanitarian aid to South Sudan as part of its continued support and solidarity with Juba in the face of various crisis, a statement by the armed forces read on Monday.

A military jet loaded with large quantities of medical and humanitarian aid took off from an east Cairo military airbase to Juba International Airport as per the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the statement said. 

“The aid is an affirmation of the depth of historical ties and relations between Egypt and South Sudan as well as Egypt’s leading role towards Africa during times of crisis,” added the statement. 

Egypt has sent several medical aid shipments to Arab and African countries, including Tunisia, Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, and others, out of its firm belief in the shared destiny it has with neighbouring countries and its keenness to maintain their stability and safety.
