Egypt, Uganda to explore opportunities for cooperation in military, other fields

Uganda is keen to open new horizons for military cooperation with Egypt, said Liutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, commander of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF).

Kainerugaba made the statement during a meeting with Egypt’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Osama Askar in Egypt, Armed Forces Spokesman Gharib Abdel-Hafez said in a statement on Saturday.

Kainerugaba praised the efforts of Egypt and its Armed Forces to support security and stability in Africa.

The meeting tackled issues of mutual concern regarding military cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the armed forces of both countries, Abdel-Hafez said.

Askar said Egypt appreciates the historical ties binding the two countries and its Armed Forces is keen to enhance cooperation and strategic partnership with Uganda in various fields.
