“We have experienced very, very hard days over the past years … and God has made them easy for us and blessed us with his generosity and grace and the sacrifices of the young from the army and police,” El-Sisi said in a speech as he met families of the academy students during his tour.
El-Sisi reassured Egyptians that the country is fine and strong, stressing the need to always remember the sacrifices of the army and police over the past years.
The president urged Egyptians not to worry about their country, which he said is protected by God and responsible families who bring up good children raised to defend their homeland.
El-Sisi emphasised that protecting the homeland is “the most honorable duty” any Egyptian can undertake.
The president inspected training fields at the academy and students' fitness routines. He also spoke to female students at the academy and listened to their views and ambitions.
During the tour, El-Sisi highlighted the development of rehabilitation centres and the focus on a punitive philosophy that aims to rehabilitate offenders.
"We do not want to punish offenders as much as we want to rehabilitate them to protect society", he said.
