Egypt’s defense minister, commander of US Central Command discuss Gaza crisis

Egypt’s Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki discussed developments in the current crisis in Gaza with General Michael Corella, commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), who is currently visiting Egypt, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Tuesday.

According to the Egyptian Armed Forces, the meeting addressed several topics of mutual interest in light of current regional and international developments, especially in the current crisis in Gaza.

Zaki affirmed the distinguished relations between the Egyptian and US armies in various military fields.

He also emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts among all active forces in the international community to achieve calm, ceasefire, and intensify aid delivery through the Rafah border crossing to alleviate the extremely difficult humanitarian crisis faced by Gazans.

General Corella praised the pivotal role played by Egypt in maintaining regional security and stability, as well as its efforts towards resolving the Gaza crisis.

He affirmed his country's keenness to support the strategic partnership and ongoing coordination between the Egyptian and American armed forces.

Additionally, General Osama Askar, chief of staff of the Armed Forces, met with Corella to discuss enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.

The meetings were attended by the US ambassador in Cairo, the US military attaché in Cairo, and several commanders from the Egyptian and American armed forces.
