The Egyptian Air Forces, in an international coalition with other countries, resumed airdropping tons of aid on the Gaza Strip, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Sunday.

According to the Egyptian army, the resumption of aid airdropping aims to alleviate the unprecedented suffering of the Palestinian people amid the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Al-Qahera News channel reported that two hundred aid trucks from Egypt started entering the Gaza Strip through the Karm Abu Salem border crossing on Sunday.

On Friday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and US President Joe Biden agreed to temporarily facilitate the delivery of aid and fuel to the UN at the Karm Abu Salem crossing until a legal mechanism for reopening the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side is established.

El-Sisi and Biden's agreement came shortly after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel must immediately halt its military offensive and any other action in Rafah and open the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt to allow the entry of humanitarian aid.

In early May, Israel launched its assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, taking over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, and thus preventing the entry of humanitarian aid to a population facing famine conditions.
