Saqr’s remarks came during his meeting with several Southern Military Zone personnel.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, the Commander of the Southern Military Zone, Major General Osama Samir Abdel Latif, commanders of the main branches, and several senior military officers.
During the meeting, Saqr conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, to the Southern Military Zone personnel.
The defence minister further urged the preservation of weapons and equipment and maximising their use, stressing the need to maintain the highest levels of efficiency and combat readiness, and further to develop the skill and physical fitness of every fighter.
He underlined the importance of continued research, learning and awareness-building among Armed Forces personnel, so they remain fully informed of developments and changes at all levels, praising their efforts in safeguarding the nation and protecting its resources.
For his part, Latif highlighted the support provided by the Armed Forces’ General Command to the Southern Military Zone, affirming the fighters’ commitment to enhancing their training level to reach the highest degrees of readiness and combat efficiency, enabling them to carry out all assigned missions with competence and professionalism.
The Egyptian defence minister’s meeting comes within a series of meetings held by the Armed Forces’ General Command to assess the morale and combat readiness of its personnel.
