The inspection aligns with the General Command of the Armed Forces' commitment to conducting follow-up and ensuring readiness for the exercise's launch, the Egyptian military spokesman said.

During the inspection tour at Mohamed Naguib Military Base, Khalifa was briefed on all the procedures carried out for hosting this major exercise, which reflected a high level of planning in preparation for one of the world's largest joint military drills.

Lieutenant General Khalifa also attended several specialized preliminary training activities conducted ahead of the official start of the exercise, the spokesman added.

He also expressed his appreciation and extended a warm welcome to the participating forces, most of whom had already arrived through various entry points in preparation for the commencement of the exercise.

The chief of staff praised the performance of the exercise overseers, urging them to make this edition an outstanding one on all levels.

He further encouraged them to maximize their efforts and utilize all capabilities and resources to achieve the intended objectives and honour the Egyptian Armed Forces, which enjoys trust and respect among its counterparts regionally and internationally.

Several senior Armed Forces commanders were present during the tour.

Bright Star 2025 begins on Thursday and will run through Wednesday, 10 September.

Earlier, the military spokesman revealed that this year's edition brings together 44 nations, including 14 countries that will contribute troops, amounting to more than 8,000 soldiers, while 30 nations will participate as observers.

Initially launched in 1980 as a bilateral exercise between Egypt and the United States, Bright Star has evolved into one of the world's largest multinational exercises. It was designed to reinforce regional security, foster military cooperation, and enhance interoperability among allied forces.

The 2025 exercise represents the 19th iteration of Bright Star.
