The activities began with airborne forces from participating countries carrying out parachute jumps, while military engineers dealt with improvised explosive devices and secured access routes.
Combat groups, supported by special forces from several countries and Egyptian civilian police, then stormed and secured the stronghold.
Once the stronghold was cleared, medical, administrative, and morale support units were deployed to resume facility operations and create conditions for life to return to normal.
The exercise highlighted the advanced capabilities of the participating forces and their ability to plan and manage joint operations with modern methods.
During the event, Khalifa conveyed greetings from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, and from Commander-in-Chief and Defence Minister General Abdel Mageed Saqr to the participating troops.
He praised their performance, coordination, and ability to conduct joint operations effectively, stressing that this readiness is reassuring for any future collective action.
Khalifa added that all activities within the training aim to strengthen security and stability, affirming the right of every state to live safely within its borders.
For his part, Commander of the Northern Military Zone Major General Yasser El-Khatib said the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces is closely following all stages of the training to maximize the exchange of experience and enhance the combat efficiency of the forces.
The exercise was attended by senior commanders of the Egyptian Armed Forces, military leaders from participating countries, foreign military attachés, students of military academies and institutes, and media representatives.
The 19th edition of Bright Star, running from 28 August to 10 September, is one of the world’s largest multinational military exercises.
Bright Star 2025 includes 44 participating countries, with 14 contributing with troops, comprising nearly 8,000 soldiers, and 30 other countries joining as observers.
Launched in 1980 as an Egypt-US exercise, Bright Star has since grown into a multinational drill aimed at strengthening regional security and military cooperation.
