In a ceremony, the Egyptian defence minister laid a wreath at the tomb of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser and recited Al-Fatiha in remembrance of his pure soul.
He also met with the family of the late leader and conveyed President El-Sisi's appreciation for President Nasser's historic role and efforts in supporting the Arab and regional causes.

During the ceremony, General Saqr emphasised the crucial and significant role the glorious 23 July Revolution, led by the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, played in Egypt's history.
He affirmed that through his values of struggle and sacrifice, Nasser lit a beacon that still guides and inspires multiple generations as they strive for the glory and greatness of their homelands.

Several leaders of the Armed Forces and members of the late president's family attended the ceremony.
Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, who led the July 1952 revolution, died on 28 September 1970, aged 52.
