General Saqr said this at the opening ceremony of the fourth Egypt’s Defence Expo (EDEX 2025) in the presence of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
He said the event provides an important opportunity to showcase the latest military and security technologies developed worldwide.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the presidential spokesperson, said Saqr highlighted EDEX 2025 as a leading global platform for countries and major companies to display advanced armament systems and defence technologies.
He noted that the exhibition takes place amid rapid regional and global changes and overlapping conflicts, making constant readiness to confront risks and emerging threats a national duty.
He emphasized that Cairo has long urged the international community to reject the arrogance of force and pursue a just, comprehensive peace, a stance reflected in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, where Egypt brought together peace-supporting nations to press for an end to the war in Gaza.
Saqr stressed that Egypt’s military capabilities are an investment in lasting peace, asserting that strong nations earn respect for their sovereignty and have their borders protected.
He said the Egyptian Armed Forces have always been, and will remain, a responsible power that safeguards rather than threatens, contributing to regional stability while strengthening the country’s capabilities.
Highlighting Egypt’s broader national achievements, Saqr pointed to the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as a milestone reflecting the country’s civilizational depth and connecting its historic past with a promising future.
Through EDEX 2025, he said, Egypt demonstrates its modern strength, keeps pace with global advances in defence, enhances military readiness, and supports national security
Saqr expressed gratitude to President El-Sisi for his ongoing support of the Armed Forces, noting that it strengthens modernization programmes, improves combat readiness, and expands international cooperation, key elements in safeguarding regional and global peace and security.
He welcomed all participating delegations and companies, expressing hope that the exhibition would serve as a platform for exchanging expertise, ideas, and forward-looking visions in the defence industry.
EDEX 2025 features 25 national pavilions displaying advanced systems across land, naval, aerospace, and security sectors, including armoured vehicles, UAVs, air-defence platforms, naval technologies, electronic warfare systems, and command-and-control capabilities.
President El-Sisi inaugurated on Monday the fourth edition of EDEX at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC) in Cairo, marking the opening of one of the region’s largest and most influential tri-service defence events.
Held from 1 to 4 December and organized by the Egyptian Armament Authority, the exhibition brings together more than 450 global defence and security companies, along with official delegations from over 100 countries.
This year’s edition covers 45,000 square metres of exhibition space and is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors, making it the largest EDEX since its launch in 2018.
