The visit is part of the Armed Forces’ ongoing field monitoring to ensure the combat readiness of all formations and units amid rapid regional developments.

During the inspection, Zaher received a detailed briefing on recent development and modernization efforts in the Central Military Region.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khalifa and commanders of the main service branches.

The defence minister later reviewed elements of the upgraded combat readiness system in the air defence and medical services sectors, reflecting the region’s operational preparedness, the spokesman said.

Zaher also joined personnel from the Central Military Region, along with members of the Border Guards, Paratroopers, and Sa’ka (Thunderbolt) Forces, for an iftar meal.

He conveyed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s greetings and appreciation to the troops, stressing the importance of continuous training and high morale to ensure the Armed Forces remain at the highest level of readiness to safeguard national security.

The commander-in-chief reaffirmed the General Command’s commitment to providing all necessary support to service members, describing the individual fighter as the cornerstone of the Armed Forces.

He also urged troops to stay aware of regional developments and their implications for Egypt’s national security, underscoring the need for vigilance amid what he described as rapid and accelerating changes in the region.

Zaher praised the efforts of Armed Forces personnel in maintaining high levels of alertness and readiness to protect Egypt’s borders and territorial integrity, the spokesman added.
