The project is part of a campaign to showcase the statues that adorn 80 public squares and parks all over Egypt, whether archaeological or not, and to make them presentable and aesthetically pleasing.
Manal Ghanem, head of the central department for restoration, explains that all the statues and art pieces decorating the squares of Cairo governorate have been cleaned of dust and graffiti using dry mechanical or wet cleaning, and the text at their bases have been restored.
