Ahmed Aboud, the representative of the Egyptian Federation of Hot Air Ballooning Companies, said the rides were cancelled for the tourists' safety.
Hot air ballooning over Luxor — home to a myriad of ancient sites — is a popular attraction in which tourists enjoy the panoramic view of ancient Egyptian temples and green agricultural fields.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic in 2019, Egypt’s Luxor ranked 3rd number of hot air balloon trips globally with a total of 11,000 trips annually.
