In a statement released on Thursday, EgyptAir explained that the government made the decision in line with Egypt Vision 2030 to stimulate tourism to the country.
Transit passengers can visit the EgyptAir Transit office at Cairo International Airport to obtain the visa, the national carrier said.
EgyptAir added that transit passengers can take advantage of tour programs offered by its tourist tours subsidiary Karnak to explore renowned attractions in the country.
Easier, longer visas!
The no-fee visa for transits is the latest in a string of recent measures taken by the government to boost tourism.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Interior introduced a new five-year multiple-entry visa option for foreigners, available for a fee of $700.
Additionally, in March, the government relaxed tourist visa requirements for visitors from China, Iran, India, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria and Israel.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has reported that Egypt welcomed over 11.7 million tourists in 2022, a whopping increase of 46.2 percent over the eight million visitors figure in 2021.
