The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) advised beachgoers on the North Coast to exercise caution when they jump in the Mediterranean for a swim on Sunday and Monday as rogue waves could make it a risky business.

Gusty winds of up to 50 kilometres per hour will push waves up to 4 metres high on the Mediterranean from Marsa Matrouh in the far west of the country to Port Said off the Suez Canal.

Strong winds might also disrupt maritime navigation all along the Mediterranean coast, the EMA warned fishermen and seafarers.

Expected highs in Alexandria over these two days will be 31 and lows 25 degrees Celsius.

Marsa Matrouh will see highs of 29 and lows of 24.

The weather will be perfect for a nice tan on the beach. If you must swim, advisedly stay close to the beach line.
