The suspected shooter has been apprehended and is currently under investigation by authorities, according to the source.
The policeman, part of the security services in Al-Mansheya neighbourhood, opened fire “randomly” while a group of Israeli tourists was visiting the Pompey's Pillar monument, the source added.
The shooting comes a day after Israel announced a “state of war” as Hamas killed hundreds of Israelis and captured tens of others in a surprise full-scale attack against Israeli cities.
