AirCairo has been operating flights to Israel since 2022, with three flights per week from Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport to Ben Gurion International Airport.

According to the source, AirCairo's decision to suspend flights to Israel came shortly after EgyptAir suspended its flights to Ben Gurion International Airport.

The decision to resume flights will be contingent on the security developments in Gaza, the source added.

Globally, many major airlines cancelled dozens of flights to Tel Aviv over the weekend after the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise large-scale attack against Israel.

These airlines include American Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, Ryanair, Aegean Airlines,  Brussels Airlines, and Polish LOT Airlines.

Israel has declared a state of war and launched deadly and devastating airstrikes in response to Hamas' surprise attack on Saturday.

Till now, the Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of more than 900 Palestinians and have left over 4,500 people wounded.

Hamas attack, named Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 Israelis and the capture of tens of others.
