According to the tourism ministry, Issa met with Ambassador Frank Hartmann of Germany and Georg Postinger of Austria to ensure that the tourists who booked through the company receive the services they paid for and that Egyptian hotels and tourism companies are compensated.

The ministry revealed that the German ambassador confirmed that the company was insured against insolvency, ensuring that all costs owed to Egyptian companies will be covered.

The meeting also noted that the ministry’s Central Administration for Hotel Establishments, Shops, and Tourism Activities is assessing the situation of FTI tourists on the Red Sea and elsewhere.

There were approximately 11,000 tourists in Egypt affiliated with the German company at the time of its bankruptcy, although that number has now declined to fewer than 5,000, according to the ministry.

The meeting also reviewed the efforts of the Egyptian Tourism Authority to protect the rights of tourists, hotels, and Egptian companies who had contracts with FTI, highlighting several virtual meetings held with industry partners from Europe.

During the meetings, Ahmed Issa urged the ambassadors to expedite the necessary procedures for the German Travel Insurance Fund to pay all dues owed to Egyptian hotels and tourism companies with tourists under FTI’s travel programmes.
