All Egyptian airports functioning normally so far amidst global cyber outage: Egypt civil aviation ministry

The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a statement on Friday that all Egyptian airports are functioning normally on schedule and no departing flights from Egyptian airports have been affected by the cyber outage that hit the world earlier today.

In its statement, the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the formation of a monitoring room to follow the developments of the situation influencing aviation.

"Any updates to the situation will be announced periodically," noted the ministry.

Earlier today, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Amr Talaat said that vital sectors in Egypt were not affected by the global cyber outage that impacted aviation, internet service, and banking transfers globally.

Minister Talaat told Extra News TV channel on Friday: "Vital sectors such as communications, internet, banking transfers, airports, and seaports have not been affected by the global technical malfunction."

"I am in contact with the Minister of Civil Aviation and have confirmed that Egyptian air traffic is regular,” Talaat said.

Earlier, an informed source told Al-Qahera News that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly is monitoring the impact of the international cyber outage on air traffic to and from Egypt.

The source clarified that Egypt's civil aviation system is completely secure and has not been affected by the current situation that has impacted countries worldwide.
