“With this batch, the total number of sites and museums now equipped with e-ticketing systems has reached 100 across Egypt,” said Khaled Sherif, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation and head of the General Administration for Service Development at tourist sites.
This expansion encompasses sites across various governorates, including the Virgin Mary tree and Matariya Obelisk in Cairo, Luxor, Abydos Temple in Sohag, Meidum Pyramid in Benisweif, and the necropolis of Zawyet Sultan and Beni Hassan in Meniya, and other sites in Giza and Alexandria.
Visitors can now seamlessly purchase the tickets either on-site ticketing kiosks or through the official ministry website, egymonuments.com.
The ministry plans to continue rolling out the e-ticketing system to cover all archaeological sites and museums.
“This is not the only e-system service that the ministry is introducing to visitors of the archaeological sites,” said Sherif, adding that a group of self-service ticketing machines are also installed and operated at the most visited archaeological sites across the country.
This phased implementation demonstrates a commitment to gradually integrate technology into various facets of cultural exploration while ensuring a seamless transition for local and international visitors.
