The announcement came during a meeting held by Madbouly and attended by several ministers, officials, and governors to review the ongoing preparations for the grand event.
The Egyptian PM emphasized the importance of top-tier preparations for the opening ceremony, including airports, hotels, and roads to the event venue.
"Ensuring the country is showcased in the best possible light is essential,” Madbouly said.
He also highlighted directives given to various ministries and relevant authorities to ensure effective promotion of the achievements made in recent years during the event.
Madbouly stressed the government’s keenness to deliver a world-class opening ceremony, which will be a major promotional event for Egypt’s tourist destinations.
During the meeting, Mohamed Al-Saadi, a board member of Egypt’s United Media Services (UMS), presented the UMS’ proposed agenda for the grand opening ceremony.
He discussed the design of the invitations for royalty, presidents, high-ranking officials, and dignitaries, as well as the planned entertainment and cultural segments.
The meeting also highlighted the tasks assigned to each ministry and governorate, logistical requirements, and arrangements to ensure smooth arrivals and departures for guests.
For their part, the meeting attendees affirmed their full support for the event’s success, pledging to remove any obstacles and provide all necessary facilities for the organizers.
According to the Egyptian cabinet, celebrations surrounding this highly anticipated event will extend over several days, attracting global attention.
Located near the newly opened Sphinx International Airport and offering a stunning view of the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the GEM will become the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization – ancient Egypt.
Covering an expansive 500,000 square metres, the GEM is twice the size of the Louvre Museum in Paris and 2.5 times larger than the British Museum in London.
The museum's soft opening was in November 2023, followed by a trial run in October 2024. It unveiled its gardens, cafés, the hanging obelisk, the atrium, the grand staircase, and the main galleries, which house 12 exhibition halls.
Shortly after, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) honoured the GEM with the prestigious Prix Versailles award, recognizing it as one of the world’s most beautiful museums for 2024.
