The Boeing B737/800 aircraft carried 152 passengers, marking the launch of a direct and regular air route between the two countries for the summer season, the Civil Aviation announced.
Smartwings is set to operate one weekly flight every Wednesday, totaling 23 flights till 31 October.
Inaugurated in 2019 at the New Administrative Capital City, Capital International Airport is one of the newest additions to Egypt's aviation infrastructure.
It features a contemporary design, a runway capable of handling large aircraft, and a passenger terminal with a capacity of over 300 travelers per hour.
Strategically located, the airport is connected to several key road networks serving the New Administrative Capital and neighbouring cities, making it a promising hub for international air travel.
"We are committed to expanding air traffic and attracting more tourists to Egyptian airports," said Minister of Civil Aviation Samy Hefny, who added that Capital International Airport was now a new gateway for European markets.
"We anticipate the launch of additional direct air routes from various capitals soon," Hefny said.
