The new platform is designed to provide a more seamless and secure booking process, in line with the ministry’s ongoing efforts to upgrade service quality and streamline access to the museum.
Built to the latest user experience standards, the system reduces the number of steps required to complete a reservation and features a simplified interface that allows users to book tickets quickly and efficiently.
Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the GEM Authority, said the upgraded platform reflects a broader strategic vision to unify the museum’s digital identity.
“The aim is to establish a single, official channel for ticket bookings, stemming directly from the museum’s official website. This reinforces institutional credibility and strengthens user trust,” he pointed out.
He added that the move also responds to growing concerns over digital security, particularly following the emergence of unofficial websites impersonating the museum and promoting counterfeit tickets. Ghoneim urged visitors to rely exclusively on the official booking link to safeguard their rights and ensure a secure and smooth experience.
For his part, Mohamed Shaaban, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Digital Services, explained that repeated attempts to create fraudulent websites using commercial (.com) domains prompted the transition to the official national domain (.eg), which offers greater government-backed credibility and helps combat online fraud.
The upgraded platform is now live and accessible via: https://tickets.gem.eg
Shaaban confirmed that the previous booking website (https://visit-gem.com) will remain operational during a transactional period, after which it will be phased out once the new platform gains widespread adoption, becoming the sole official channel for ticket reservations.
To ensure a smooth transition, redirection and cross-linking features will be introduced, allowing users to move easily between the old and new platforms.
The launch underscores Egypt’s broader push toward digital transformation in the tourism and heritage sectors, as the Grand Egyptian Museum prepares to welcome visitors with a more integrated and secure digital ecosystem.
