President's legal adviser: Morsi to form fact-finding committee on protester deaths

Judge Mohamed Jadallah, president's new legal adviser, tells media that new fact-finding committee will cover protesters' deaths from 25 January of last year to June 2012 handover of power

Judge Mohamed Fouad Jadallah, the president’s new adviser for legal and constitutional affairs announced a short while ago on ONTV that President Mohamed Mursi will issue a decree to form a fact-finding committee to collect information about the killing of protesters from 25 January 2011 till the handover of power in June 2012.

According to Judge Jadallah, the new fact-finding committee will be headed by a judge while its membership will include a number of public figures who will be tasked with gathering the information needed to arrest those responsible for killing of peaceful protesters.

Al Shorouk newspaper reported on Thursday that Jadallah has already started his work at the presidency by drafting the presidential decree to form a legal committee for the political detainees and civilian detainees in military trials in order to study their cases with a view to their release.

Judge Mohamed Jadallah was among the judges who joined the revolution in its early days in January 2011 and worked as an advisor to Essam Sharaf during his term as a prime minister.
