Egyptian journalist Shaimaa Adel is to be released following a meeting between Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi Sunday, according to the Egyptian president's official Facebook page.
The decision came after the two presidents met during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa.
According to MENA, the Egyptian state news agency, President Al-Bashir issued direct orders to security officials to release Adel. However, no exact date of release was mentioned.
Shaimaa Adel is the second Egyptian reporter to be arrested in Sudan while covering protests against the regime in Khartoum. Ahram Online and Bloomberg reporter Salma Al-Wardany was earlier arrested and subsequently deported after being detained for nearly a week.
