NEA accepts four candidacy applications for presidential election

The National Elections Authority (NEA) on Sunday accepted applications from four candidates seeking to run in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, including incumbent President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, according to a statement issued on Monday.

The NEA said that it accepted the applications of Abdel-Fattah Said Hussein Khalil El-Sisi, Mohamed Farid Saad Zahran, Abdel Sanad Hassan Mohamed Yamama and Hazem Mohamed Sulaiman Mohamed Omar.

According to the NEA’s statement, the Authority’s Nomination Review Committee concluded in a report that only these four nominations fulfilled the constitutional and legal conditions and requirements for a presidential bid.

In light of the committee's report, the NEA's Board of Directors, after deliberation, issued a decision to accept these requests.

Voting in Egypt will take place from 10 to 12 December. Egyptians abroad will cast their votes on 1-3 December.

The final result will be announced on 18 December if no run-off is required.
