Your Own Kind Of Party
If you are not a fan of big parties, you can have your own New Year's Eve experience as you watch all the action from outside.
Get ready to take to the city streets as you watch different celebrations and fireworks across the city.
Put your comfortable shoes on, hit the road at around 10 PM and watch how the different neighborhoods bid farewell to the year.
Start off at Cairo's bustling Khan El Khalili neighborhood watching the vendors as they sell the party hats and balloons to nearby gatherers who are waiting to celebrate the beginning of the new year in their own way. Take a walk around the busy area as you move on Azhar Street heading towards Downtown.
Different than Khan El Khalili, the heart of the city has a lot more to offer and different celebrations at its cheap and cozy old bars, adding a different flavor to the celebration. From its big squares to the its main streets, Downtown offers a very unique celebration and is home to many of the city's expats who are also celebrating a new year in their very own way.
Prepare to walk to your last destination and end your walk at Zamalek, passing by Kasr El Nil Bridge, where couples and families stand to watch the fireworks and buy balloons and hats for their children. If you want to go the extra mile and get an exquisite view of Cairo and watch all the celebrations from far way, you can hit the Cairo Tower at midnight to watch the city go mad on New Year's Eve.
Whether you will enjoy the entire long walk or take a cab, the experience won't cost you more than the transportation fees and the Cairo Tower ticket, while you hop from one neighborhood to another watching how each neighborhood celebrates.
