The agreement was signed by Professor Seddik Abdel-Salam, the ACU president, and the Canadian side represented by Professor Muthana Zouri, dean of the Pilon School of Business at Sheridan College, Professor Nagy Salib, the manager of International Business Development and Partnership, and Professor Philip Hayes, the associate registrar of domestic and international students’ recruitment at Sheridan.

The signing ceremony was attended by a delegation from the Canadian embassy in Cairo, including Dr. Mark Scullion, a senior trade commissioner, and Dr. Joseph Tadros, a senior trade officer, and from the Egyptian side, including Professor Ayman Nour El-Din, ACU vice president, Professor Ali El-Gohary, dean of Business Administration Department, and Dr. Wegdan Lotfi, director of the International Relations Office at ACU.

Ambassador Dumas praised the agreement signed between the ACU and Sheridan for exchanging educational experiences between Egypt and Canada, culminating almost 70 years of strong diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries, dating back to the fifties.

He also hailed the positive Canadian contributions to Egypt’s education system, trade relations, and broader development efforts.

Professor Abdel-Salam announced the establishment of a regional office for Sheridan College at the ACU’s headquarters to oversee the implementation of the agreement and other educational cooperation activities with other Egyptian institutions.

Abdel-Salam stressed that this agreement writes a new history for the ACU, as it is the first dual degree awarded by the university since its establishment, describing it as the cornerstone for further cooperation with Canadian educational institutions to provide the community with international graduates capable of joining Western and regional markets.

Professor Zouri revealed Sheridan’s willingness to extend the collaboration to other faculties such as Design and Creative Arts, Computer Sciences and Information Technology, and Mass Communication,

He also noted that the agreement reshapes business education for Egyptian students and supports both the Egyptian and Canadian communities.

Professor Salib stressed that the level of cooperation shown by Professor Abdel-Salam, since his visit to Sheridan Campus in Canada, reflects ACU’s determination to strengthen its Canadian identity, rendering the dual degree granted by both sides not merely a certificate, but a whole future.
