Egypt's Wafd party secured five seats in the second stage of the parliamentary elections, one seat contested on an individual basis and four seats for Wafd candidates in 'For the Love of Egypt' list.
In addition, 43 Wafd candidates will be facing run-offs on individual seats, Wafd's media consultant Motaz Salah Eldin said in a statement on Tuesday, adding that votes are still being counted in some constituencies.
Accountant Talaat Sewedy, a Sharqiya candidate, secured an individual seat in Diarb Negm constituency, Wafd's media consultant said. Diarb Negm is allocated two individual seats out of 20 in Sharqiya.
The four candidates who won as part of 'For the Love of Egypt' list are Laila Ahmed Abo Ismail, Mohamed Selim, Elsayed Moussa, and Maha Shaaban.
Out of the 43 candidates who will compete in the run-off phase, seven are in Sharqiya governorate, seven in Qalyubiya, seven in Daqahliya, six in Gharbiya, six in Cairo, and four in Menoufiya, a candidate in Port Said and a candidate in South Sinai.
Also amongst the 43 Wafdists, four candidates who were running in the first stage are competing in the upcoming run-offs, as elections were postponed due to appeals in some constituencies.
Wafd party had 35 candidates in the run-offs of the first stage.
Run-offs for the second stage are due on December 1 and 2.
Candidates of Free Egyptians, Future of Homeland and Wafd parties secured around 90 individual seats out of 226 in the first stage of the Egyptian parliamentary elections.
