Polls opened Sunday in four districts in Alexandria, Beheira, and Beni Suef, where elections for 13 seats contested on an individual basis are taking place again after the results were ruled void by Egyptian courts.

Some candidates in those districts were found to be ineligible to run.

Sunday is also the second day of voting for Egyptians living abroad who are from those districts.

Run-offs will take place Tuesday and Wednesday for Egyptians abroad, and Wednesday and Thursday for Egyptian residents.

Until now, 316 independent candidates secured seats in the parliament and 239 party-affiliated candidates won seats, a total of 555 seats.

A number of 28 members of parliament are yet to be appointed by the president. The total number of members will be 596.

The first session of the parliament is due to take place before the end of the year.
