The wave of rainfall and thunderstorms will continue at varying levels across the country on Sunday, Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) said on Saturday.

The unstable weather conditions will continue for the third day in a row across parts of southern Egypt, according to the EMA.

There is a 40 to 50 percent chance of rainfall and thunderstorms across that the Red Sea mountain range and south Upper Egypt, including Aswan.

Three people were killed and over 500 were injured due to scorpion stings in Aswan since Friday, according to the health ministry.

The deaths and injuries were caused after the bad weather drove the scorpions from their nests into people’s homes.

On Saturday, the unstable weather conditions extended to Luxor, causing a sandstorm.

The EMA added that there is a 30 percent chance that parts of the western north coast, including Marsa Matrouh, will witness light rainfall on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the EMA expects mild weather through the morning across Greater Cairo, northern Egypt, and northern coasts.

Warm weather is expected in northern Upper Egypt and South Sinai, while southern Upper Egypt is expected to witness hot weather.

Nice weather is expected by nightfall in all areas, while cold weather is expected to prevail by the end of the night and the early morning.
