The convoys, which carried up to 10,000 boxes of foodstuffs and financial aid, were organised by the DLF in cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank, a statement by the DLF said.
Last week, rare torrential rainfall, thunder and snowfall hit several cities in the otherwise temperate Aswan governorate, causing the collapse of tens of homes.
In addition, three people died and 450 were injured after being stung by scorpions that were flushed out of their borrows during the spell.
The DLF also distributed a first batch of appliances and furniture to affected families, in coordination with Aswan governorate, the statement added.
The initiative said it will start repairing and restoring damaged homes in Aswan cities in cooperation with all concerned bodies, in addition to providing in-kind compensations to all families affected by the floods.
Decent Life, meaning Hayah Karima in Arabic, is a nationwide initiative that comprises a series of countryside-focused national infrastructure projects.
It was first initiated in 2019 by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi who tasked the Ministry of Social Solidarity with developing Egypt’s poorest 1,000 villages.
In December 2020, El-Sisi expanded the initiative to include another 4,500 villages within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt's Vision 2030.
