The Alexandria Port Authority closed on Monday the Dekhila and Alexandria ports on Egypt’s Mediterranean cost due to unstable weather conditions, the port’s spokesman said,
The port’s spokesman Ahmed Bereka said the decision came to guarantee the safety of passing ships at the port and the safety of individuals and property.
Tarek Chahin, the Chairman of Alexandria Port Authority, has ordered all relevant departments to to increase readiness and continue meteorological monitoring periodically in terms of wind speed, wave height and air pressure.
Several governorates, including Cairo and Alexandria, have suspended classes on Monday due to the turbulent weather forecasts.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecast on Sunday moderate to heavy rain Monday along parts of the northern coast and northern Delta.
Dusty winds are also set to hit the country’s north to northern Upper Egypt, resulting in colder temperatures and poor vision on roads.
