Cold weather wave to continue till weekend: EMA

Egypt will continue to witness a wave of unstable cold weather conditions till the weekend, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The EMA also warned of an extreme disturbance to navigation movement in the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, however, is unaffected.

Furthermore, governorates on the North Coast, South Sinai, and the Red Sea Mountain Ranges will witness light to moderate rains.

The EMA added that the percentage of rainfall will increase at night in all parts of Egypt, especially in the west.

Also, a general drop in temperatures and cold winds will be felt across the country.

Additionally, the EMA warned that parts of Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, the coasts, and North Upper Egypt will witness dusty winds over the course of the next few days.

On Monday, the authority stated that this wave of cold weather was caused by a cold airmass coming from Europe, resulting in the current significant drop in temperatures.

Cairo is seeing highs of 15 degrees Celsius and lows of seven degrees on Wednesday.

Moreover, the North Coast is experiencing highs of 15 degrees and lows of 10 while South Sinai is witnessing highs of 19 degrees and lows of 12.

As for the country’s south, northern Upper Egypt is experiencing highs of 16 degree and lows of three, while southern Upper Egypt is seeing highs of 17 degrees and lows of five.
