Egypt to see rainfall, bad weather until Sunday

Much of the country is expected to see light to moderate rainfall over the coming three days amid a wave of bad weather and possible drop in temperatures.

Starting from Friday night until Sunday morning, varying levels of rain and possible thunderstorms are expected over many parts of the country, said the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), adding that dusty winds could also be expected in some areas.

On Friday, light to moderate rains are expected in some parts of the Western Desert, northern Upper Egypt, northwestern coasts, northern and southern Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities and Sinai.

Rains may extend to Greater Cairo, the EMA said.

On Saturday, moderate rains on the canal cities are expected, while some areas of Sinai, the Red Sea governorate, and northern Upper Egypt may be hit by floods.

Light to moderate rains are expected in the western coasts, Lower Egypt, and possible in Greater Cairo and southern Upper Egypt on Saturday, said the EMA.

Some areas in the Suez Canal cities, Sinai, the Red Sea governorate are expected to see moderate rainfall on Sunday. Light rainfall is also expected in western coasts, Lower Egypt, and northern Upper Egypt.

According to the EMA, Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will see highs of 17-22 degrees Celsius until Wednesday and lows of 10-11, while the northern coast will record highs of 17-19 and lows of 10-12.

South Sinai will record highs of 22-25 and lows of 14-15. Northern Upper Egypt will see highs of 18-22 and lows of 7-8, while Southern Upper Egypt will record highs of 22-27 and lows of 10-12.
