In a press release on Monday, the CAPMAS pointed out that Egypt's population rose the last one million within seven months and 22 days.
However, birth rates declined by 3 per cent after registering 2.159 million new births during 2021, down by 76,000 babies compared to the previous year, the agency noted.
Assiut, Minya, Qena, Sohag, and Beni Suef were the governorates with the highest birth rates.
The number of Egyptians abroad is estimated at 10 million.
