The peak of the rise will be on Sunday, as Cairo is expected to record 39 degrees Celsius, with a gradual rise in temperatures expected starting Saturday. Hot weather is expected to prevail from the North Coast all the way down to northern Upper Egypt.

Temperature, however, will drop significantly during the night amid active winds, with the mercury dropping to 13 degrees.

The heatwave is a result of south-westerly wind activity that will be accompanied by sand and dust in the far west of the country on Saturday.

The winds will also be active on Sunday in Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, and northern Upper Egypt.

Temperatures will improve, however, starting Monday in the west of the country as a result of north-westerly winds, which are expected to blow across the country till Tuesday.
