The meeting followed El-Sisi’s visit to Aswan's South Valley to inspect lands in Toshka during a ceremony held to open the wheat harvest season.

The meeting served as an open dialogue in which the president listened to inquiries and concerns regarding the most important internal and external issues of public interest, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on Thursday.

They discussed several lines of questioning, chief among which were the economic effects of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis on Egypt, and the commodity price hikes affecting the country as a result.

El-Sisi tackled the state’s strategy to deal with these repercussions, in addition to other internal challenges such as the efforts being made to combat terrorism and extremist ideology, including how the media covers these issues.

The dialogue also touched on the issue of overpopulation and its direct impact on development, as well as the state's economic reform programme, and a number of major national projects, especially Decent Life (Haya Karima).
