Thursday will be the first day of the Muslim sacred Dhul-Hijjah, the twelfth and last month of the Islamic calendar during which the Hajj (pilgrimage) takes place, according to the announcement.
Muslims will be able to perform Eid Al-Adha prayers of the Islamic year 1443 early Saturday morning around 5:21 am in Cairo, according to astronomical calculations,
In a statement, Dar El-Iftaa affirmed the sight of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah through scientific committees nationwide. Furthermore, Saudi Supreme Court also announced Thursday the first day of the sacred month in the kingdom, the statement added.
Dar El-Iftaa extended Eid greetings to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian people as well as to the kings and princes of the Arab and Islamic countries and Muslims worldwide.
Muslims across the world celebrate Eid Al-Adha by slaughtering sheep, cows, camels, or goats and giving meat to the poor, and feasting during family gatherings.
The four days of the Eid El-Adha are always declared holidays for the public and private sectors.
This year, the world is celebrating the Eid amid a rise in commodity prices, including meat and poultry, due to the global food crisis as a result of the Ukraine crisis as well as the ongoing pandemic.
In mid-June, Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi said that the state has contracted to purchase large numbers of livestock to secure meat for citizens.
In this regard, Madbouly urged the increase of contracted amounts of livestock to keep prices stable during the Eid.
Amid the pandemic, daily coronavirus infections and death tolls in Egypt have dropped to single digits in recent months, which allowed authorities to significantly reduce coronavirus restrictions nationwide.
In Eid El-Fitr, which took place in May, Egypt’s Ministry of Religious Endowments allocated 600 outdoor spaces at large mosques nationwide for millions of worshippers, ending a ban on outdoor Eid prayers, since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
