Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail across Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the Northern Coast, South Sinai and Upper Egypt from Saturday till Thursday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said.

The feeling of heat is expected to increase throughout this week due to rising humidity levels, which will push the heat index up two to four degrees nationwide, the EMA said in a statement on Friday evening.

As per the EMA's forecast, Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will witness highs of 35 to 36 degrees Celsius till Thursday, which may feel like 37 to 39 degrees due to the humidity.

The Northern Coast will experience highs of 30-32 degrees that will feel like 33-35 degrees. South Sinai will see temperatures of 38 to 41 degrees Celsius, with the felt temperatures ranging between 41 to 43 degrees.

Northern Upper Egypt will experience highs of 38-40 degrees and felt temperature of 40-41 degrees. Southern Upper Egypt will see highs ranging between 42 to 43 degrees, while it will feel like 43-44 degrees over the coming six days.

Average humidity levels in Greater Cairo will range between 30 to 40 percent during the day and 80 to 85 percent at night from Sunday to Friday.

The average humidity levels along the Northern Coast will range between 60 to 65 percent throughout the day and 90 to 95 percent at night.

In South Sinai, it will range between 30 and 35 percent during the day and 65 to 75 percent at night.

Northern and Southern Upper Egypt will see an average humidity level ranging between 25 and 20 percent and 10 and 15 percent respectively during the day, and 45 to 50 percent and 30 to 30 percent respectively at night.

The EMA also predicated light morning fog to come down the roads and highways leading to Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the Northern Coast and Suez Canal cities until 6am.

The EMA also warned against the direct exposure to sunlight, as it will increase the feeling of heat.

Winds are anticipated in some parts in the northwest coast and South Sinai.

The wind will contribute to reducing the feeling of humidity and help with breathing through the heat.

A 20 percent chance of light rainfall is expected in Halayeb and Shalateen, EMA added.
