High humidity levels to continue across Egypt till Monday: EMA

Hot weather will continue nationwide as high humidity levels increase the feeling of heat by 2-4 degrees Celsius until Monday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said in a statement on Tuesday.

Greater Cairo and northern Egypt will experience very hot and humid weather in the daytime during the six-day period, with highs ranging from 34 to 37 degrees Celsius, but the feeling of heat will range between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Hot and moist weather is forecasted along the north coast, with highs ranging between 30 and 33 degrees from Wednesday until Monday, and the feeling of heat will range from 34 to 36 degrees.

Upper Egypt will be hit with the highest temperatures, ranging from 41 to 44 degrees Celsius, with the feeling of heat ranging from 42 to 45 degrees.

The EMA called on people to stay away from direct exposure to the sun.

It mentioned that winds will be active in parts of Greater Cairo, northern Egypt, the northern coast and South Sinai, and that wind may be dusty in the southern parts of Upper Egypt.

The EMA said that the average humidity levels will range between 30 and 40 percent in the daytime and 75 to 80 percent at night.

The EMA also said that there is a 20 percent chance of sporadic rainfall over the northwestern coast on 24 and 25 August.
